Buchanan Elementary, Spring Garden Elementary and East Hills Middle School are the first in Bethlehem School District to use the sun for power. A deal with Tangent Energy Solutions allowed the district to forgo upfront costs. The project will save the district about $2 million in energy costs over the next 20 years.

“Bethlehem School District is becoming an area leader in energy conservation,” said district Superintendent Joseph Roy. “I think it sends a message we’re being pro-active both environmentally and financially.”
The district says solar fits in with its conservation curriculum which includes the newly built environmentally friendly Broughal Middle School.
